The assistant teacher will support the lead teacher in providing a nurturing and enriching environment for children aged 3-6 years. This is a part-time position following the school-year calendar in a supportive environment with competitive pay and a 401K matching program.
Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing age-appropriate activities and experiences.
Support children in their daily routines, specifically mealtime, bathroom breaks, and rest time.
Foster positive relationships with the children and their families.
Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to ensure the well-being of the children and school environment.
Experience:
Prior experience working with 3-6 year-olds or young children in a daycare or early childhood setting is desirable. Waldorf experience preferred.
Specific Skills Desired:
Ability to assist the lead teacher in implementing Waldorf-inspired activities and maintaining a nurturing environment.
Strong observation skills to identify and respond to the individual needs of children in the classroom.
Team player with effective communication skills to work collaboratively with the lead teacher and other staff members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
Waldorf Early Childhood certification
Hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:30am to 2:00pm Friday, with an additional 8-10 weekend or evening events during the school year.
Salary range is $20-$25 per hour.
Position involves working in and outdoors. Must be able to work outside for periods of time in changing weather conditions; i.e., rain, snow, wind and/or cold. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, walk over uneven terrain and have good stamina.
